Alfield

Alfield

Nestled into a patch of trees along the Amber Road, Alfield is a rural town sustained by the nearby mines that yield tin, copper, and quartz.

Despite its modest size, the welcoming farming community and scenic countryside that envelops the town attract those seeking a simpler life in the empire. While some residents and entrepreneurs are frustrated by Alfield's reputation as a mere stopover for travelers, most prefer the unhurried pace of small-town life.

Alfield's location in the Marrow Valley affords it a climate that experiences all seasons of the year. Above is a map suitable for the greenery of spring and summer. Below are variants for autumn and winter. (As usual, the full-resolution versions can be downloaded at the bottom of this post.)

The Alfield Wood flanks the town to the north and east, creating a diamond-shaped perimeter a few miles across. The Dustway and Harvest Path roads divide Alfield into four quarters, meandering through ramshackle wooden buildings until they converge at the recently rebuilt Candleglow Inn, located at the town's heart.
